Jacob Goodin, Ph.D, CSCS, ISAK II

Assistant Professor of Kinesiology

Jacob Goodin ran track & field and cross-country at Westmont College where he met his wife Lisa. He worked as a performance specialist at Prevail Conditioning in Santa Barbara, CA, while also teaching as an adjunct at Westmont College and serving as the head track & field and cross-country coach at Providence High School. Goodin went back to school at East Tennessee State University, where he earned a M.A. in Exercise Physiology and Performance, and a Ph.D. in Sport Physiology and Performance.

During his time at ETSU Goodin served as the lead reviewer for the International Coaching & Sport Science College, as head strength and conditioning coach and sport scientist for ETSU’s men’s and women’s tennis teams, and assisted in the daily operations of the Center for Excellence in Sport Science and Coach Education (from athlete monitoring and testing to website development). His coaching expertise is in middle- and long-distance running events, Olympic-style weightlifting movements and their derivatives, general strength and power training for athletes, and body composition alteration for general and athletic populations. His research has focused on barbell squatting styles, muscle fascicle architecture, and athlete monitoring, although his current interest is in the application of resistance training to distance running performance. During his time in Tennessee, Goodin also taught as a visiting Instructor of Biology at Milligan College.

Outside of academics, Jacob enjoys spending time with Lisa and their three children, Annie, Jack, and Braden.
