Dr. José Manjarrés received his BS in Mathematics and BE in Electronic Engineering from Universidad del Norte, Colombia, in 2014. He completed his Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Universidad del Norte in 2020. He worked as a visiting scholar at the Intelligent Interactive Internet of Things Lab at Duke University in North Carolina for a year. Then he taught at Olivet Nazarene University for three years. Dr. Manjarrés came to ¹ú²ú͵ÅÄ in 2023.
Dr. Manjarrés teaches courses including Analog Electronics, Digital Electronics, and Electricity and Magnetism.
His research interests include machine learning, embedded systems, smart systems, and wearable devices. He worked developing self-powered wearable sensors that used the motion of the human body to generate electricity and detect physical activities and physical workload. He has led undergraduate research in machine learning for astronomical applications, robotics, and machine learning with mobile and embedded devices.
His hobbies include soccer, basketball, trying new foods, and reading.
