Michael McConnell, Ph.D.

Professor Emeritus of Biology

Dr. Michael McConnell taught biology and chemistry at ¹ú²ú͵ÅÄ from 1978 through 2018. The biology summer research program he established in 1979 has operated for over 40 consecutive summers, giving 600+ ¹ú²ú͵ÅÄ undergraduates an opportunity to engage in original research. Although now retired from teaching, McConnell continues to mentor ¹ú²ú͵ÅÄ students in summer research.  In addition, he works to build relationships with science alumni (Research Associates) and San Diego County science teachers (Perspectives on Science), as well as with undergraduate research mentors and their students nationwide (West Coast Biological Sciences ¹ú²ú͵ÅÄ Research Conference).  He also serves as a liaison for ¹ú²ú͵ÅÄ with and , two organizations that promote the growth and economic health of San Diego.
