Whether you’re a first-year student finding their niche or an upperclassman wanting to focus on a new hobby, there’s always a way to get involved. At Point Loma, we have a variety of clubs and organizations that show there’s something for everyone. The search is over – here are seven clubs that make Loma, well… Loma!

SEAA

Calling all eco-minded, environmentalists, and nature lovers! SEAA (Students for Environmental Action & Awareness) club focuses on making small actions make a big difference in our lifetime. If you love the planet and want to learn how to best care for it, this is the club for you. You can also find them on , to learn tips and tricks for reducing waste and positive sustainability news.

WHEN TO MEET: Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. on the Seaview Terrace
 

Driftwood

Is it a club? Class? A brilliant, literary thought? Yes. LJWL’s is the undergraduate-run literary journal that is both club and class. Students who have a passion for writing can add the one-unit course to their schedules and work with student staff to put together the journal. Throughout the fall semester, students, alumni, and faculty alike can submit their work to Driftwood for a chance to have it published in the spring semester.

Knots of Love

This launched just last year but is already creating buzz around campus. This unique club combines arts, and crafts, and allows you to collab with other students who are also It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or are on your fifth scarf of the week, Knots of Love has a place for anyone wanting to learn a new skill. They also partner with Community Ministries to collect donations on a monthly basis.

B.R.E.A.K.

Standing for Beauty, Revival, Equality, Action, and Knowledge, this club emphasizes the importance of gender equality on a school campus. As a club, B.R.E.A.K. hosts discussions about confidence, privilege, gender justice, and much more. This club is a great place for anyone seeking a welcoming, discussion-based environment about important issues.

Center for Justice and Reconciliation 

This is your first stop as a student on the way to making a tangible difference with issues that matter to you. The CJR focuses on fair trade, worker rights, immigration and racial justice, and human trafficking. It’s largely a student-led organization with many events that create space for other students to learn, discuss, and process injustices in their communities. One of its most unique events is Cup of Culture, which invites speakers and students to engage in a conversation about important issues — typically over a cup of coffee of your choice.

The Point

The world is a better place when we have well-informed journalism. One way to keep good journalism alive is to make sure we’re fostering our local, student-run newspapers! The Point is ¹ú²ú͵ÅÄ’s student newspaper and reports on everything from school-wide news to music reviews about the newest album release — the Point covers it all. They’re open to story ideas from anyone: if you want to write, let your voice be heard! You can find the Point on Instagram or at .

Loman Empire Ultimate Frisbee

Need a brain break after classes? Not your typical after-school meeting club, ¹ú²ú͵ÅÄ’s Ultimate Frisbee Club allows Loma students to engage in sports without the potential time constraints of an intramural team.
